Osasuna Preview: Topsy turvy Osasuna
Last summer, Osasuna lost manager Jago Arrasate to Real Mallorca and they replaced him with Vicente Moreno, formerly of Almeria. They had been tipped up for relegation before then pushing themselves into contention for European qualification in La Liga.
That had subsided once again, though, as they drifted back down the table and were even in the relegation battle about a month ago. Now they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures just a couple of points outside of the top eight and the European spots.
Atletico Madrid Preview: Rampant Los Rojiblancos
With little to play for in the final few weeks of the season, Atletico Madrid produced an impressive first-half performance to hammer Real Sociedad by four goals to nil at the Metropolitano at the weekend with Alexander Sorloth scoring all four goals.
The Norway international striker scored against his former club in the seventh, tenth, eleventh and 30th minutes of the match. They have earned four victories with a draw and a defeat in their last six matches in La Liga.
Osasuna Team News: No need to change
Ahead of the visit of Atletico, Vicente Moreno has no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues to deal with for this one so Osasuna will be able to name an unchanged eleven. Defensive midfielder Jon Moncayola remains a doubt due to a thigh injury.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sergio Herrera; Jesus Areso, Boyomo, Alejandro Catena, Juan Cruz; Pablo Ibanez, Lucas Torro; Ruben Garcia, Aimar Oroz, Bryan Zaragoza; Budimir
Unavailable:
Questionable: Jon Moncayola (Injured)
Atletico Madrid Team News: Nothing fresh
Julian Alvarez has returned from his suspension but faces a tough battle to overthrow Sorloth after his remarkable performance the other day. Winger Rodrigo Riquelme does remain an injury doubt for the visitors, though.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Oblak; Marcos Llorente, Jose Maria Gimenez, Le Normand, Javi Galan; Pablo Barrios, De Paul, Koke; Giuliano Simeone, Sorloth, Julian Alvarez
Unavailable:
Questionable: Rodrigo Riquelme (Injured)
Osasuna vs Atletico Madrid Prediction
Osasuna have been one of the more entertaining teams to watch in La Liga. Their 35 matches so far this season have consisted of 94 goals as they chase UEFA Europa Conference League qualification. They now face an Atletico Madrid side that may well be drunk on inertia with little to play for in the final few weeks of the season and going fully in on being on the front foot. That means both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one in Navarre.
