Following the departure of Stuart Maynard and he being replaced by Martin Paterson, Notts County have started their campaign really slowly. The Magpies were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw against Newport County on the opening day before three successive defeats in all competitions, losing 2-1 to Barrow at the weekend.
Michael Appleton is known for a progressive style of football and his style doesn’t seemingly suit the Shrewsbury Town side. Salop have collected just one point and been knocked out of the EFL Cup from their opening four matches across all competitions, following their relegation from the third-tier last season.
Shrewsbury lack the cohesion and patterns of play to appear a consistent threat, and Notts County would have to be seen as slight favourites for this one at Meadow Lane.
