It's nose-bleed territory for in-form Nottingham Forest right now as they welcome Eddie Howe's Newcastle to the City Ground on Sunday.

Nottingham Forest Preview: Surprise package

Nottingham Forest continue go from strength to strength, with last weekend's comfortable 3-0 win over West Ham making it three consecutive wins in the Premier League - the first time Forest have managed that this century.

Ahead of the weekend's action, they sit third in the league table and boast the second tightest defence in the division, with only Liverpool having let in fewer. Up top, meanwhile, Chris Wood - who scored a hat-trick against Newcastle last season - is in the form of his life with only Erling Haaland ahead of him in the goalscoring charts this season.

Newcastle Preview: Turning a corner?

An early Alexander Isak goal was enough for victory against Arsenal last weekend, and handed Newcastle their first victory in six Premier League games as they look to climb back into the top half of the table.

The Magpies have taken just a point from their last three away games, and if they were to get a positive result against an in-form Forest side here, it would be a sign that Eddie Howe's men are heading in the right direction after a difficult start to the campaign.

Nottingham Forest Team News: Ward-Prowse back in the squad

The only change to the matchday squad is likely to be the return of James Ward-Prowse, who was ineligible to face his parent club in last weekend's fixture.

Santo could, however, opt for an unchanged starting line-up on Sunday, with Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare the only players missing through injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Moreno; Yates, Domiguez; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood

Unavailable: Danilo (Injured), Sangare (Injured)

Questionable:

Newcastle Team News: Too soon for Trippier & Wilson

Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson will play no part in this fixture but the pair are not too far away from returns, while Jacob Murphy is likely to make it but isn't 100% guaranteed.

Sandro Tonali could come back into midfield after dropping to the bench last time out, but How will be reluctant to make too many changes to a winning team.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Willock; Gordon, Isak, Joelinton

Unavailable: Botman (Injured), Lascelles (Injured), Trippier (Injured), Wilson (Fitness)

Questionable: J. Murphy (Injured)

Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle Prediction

The confidence in the Nottingham Forest camp is sky high right now with Nuno Espirito Santo getting the absolute best out of his squad. As long as Chris Wood maintains his impressive form in front of goal, they have a chance against anyone given how solid they have been defensively.

Newcastle, though, managed to keep Arsenal scoreless last weekend, and may well be content with a point here against the in-form hosts. With defences likely to be on top, we're predicting a low-scoring encounter at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle Tip: Under 2.5 goals
