Two teams unbeaten and on five points in the Premier League face off against each other on Monday as Leeds United welcome Newcastle United to Elland Road.

Leeds preview: Solid Leeds

Leeds United come into this one on the back of a frustrating second half performance against Chelsea as they succumbed to a 6-3 loss in the third round of the EFL Cup at Stamford Bridge in midweek, having been 2-0 up early on in the second half.

In the Premier League, Leeds began with a 1-0 win away at Nottingham Forest at the City Ground before then sharing back-to-back 1-1 draws against Brentford and then away from home against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Newcastle preview: Entertaining Newcastle

Matthias Jaissle took charge mid-way through pre-season and Newcastle United have been entertaining to watch, albeit they had to grit out a 1-0 victory over Championship side Millwall at The Den in the EFL Cup the other day.

The Magpies collected four points from games against Liverpool and then Tottenham Hotspur before coming from 2-0 down to rescue a point against AFC Bournemouth at St James’ Park last weekend.

Leeds team news: James is fit

Daniel James was a major doubt for the clash with Chelsea but he managed to start and score against The Blues but it would be a surprise to see him retain his spot in the starting eleven.

James Justin is having to fill in in the back three for Leeds for the time being with James’ Wales international teammate Joe Rodon sidelined until at least after the international break.

Further details will appear here following pre-match press conferences…

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Trafford; Justin, Bijol, Muharemovic; Bogle, Stach, Ampadu, Gudmundsson; Wilson, Aaronson; Calvert-Lewin

Questionable: Gruev (Fitness)

Newcastle team news: Dedic a doubt

Bosnia-Herzegovina international full-back Amar Dedic was forced off through injury against Millwall and so Tino Livramento could now start for the visitors for the first time in the league this season.

They have some other injury issues involving Emil Jaouen and Joelinton, while Dan Burn and Will Osula are at least a month away from being back in action, too.

Leeds vs Newcastle prediction

Since mid-way through last season, Leeds have been extremely difficult to beat and that is again expected to continue throughout the campaign despite their second half capitulation against Chelsea the other day. They will get on the front foot at home, though, and that should lead to a fun watch for the neutral given the way in which Jaissle and his Newcastle side are going about their business thus far.

Leeds vs Newcastle tip: Both teams to score
