Newcastle Team News: Isak will be 'there or thereabouts'

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers to St James' Park, Eddie Howe said that Alexander Isak will be 'there or thereabouts' and he hadn't trained at the time of his quotes.

The Magpies will have to assess Sven Botman, Joe Willock and Jacob Murphy, whilst Harvey Barnes is definitely unavailable but Fabian Schar can play. Nick Pope is progressing well but this weekend has perhaps come too soon for the England international.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Dubravka; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon

Unavailable: Lascelles (Injured), Krafth (Injured), Barnes (Injured), Wilson (Injured)

Questionable: Pope (Injured), Botman (Fitness), Willock (Fitness), Murphy (Fitness), Isak (Injured)

Wolves Team News: Cunha returns

Key man Matheus Cunha has returned from his two-match suspension that came as a result of the aftermath at the end of Wolves' 2-1 defeat at home to Ipswich Town last month so he is expected to start for this one.

The visitors will also have both Nelson Semedo and Craig Dawson available for this one, whilst Boubacar Traore nears a return to full fitness. Mario Lemina is linked with a move away and missed their cup clash at the weekend due to illness but has been passed fit for this week.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Sa; Doherty, Bueno, Agbadou; R. Gomes, Andre, J. Gomes, Ait-Nouri; Cunha, Hwang; Strand Larsen

Unavailable: Mosquera (Injured), Toti (Injured), Traore (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured), Kalajdzic (Injured)

Newcastle vs Wolves Prediction

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are in excellent form. After a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal in the first-leg of their EFL Cup semi-final last week, the Magpies came from behind to comfortably defeat League Two Bromley by three goals to one at the weekend. They have now enjoyed eight successive victories across all competitions. They face a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that started the Vitor Pereira reign with seven points collected from games against Leicester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur before being hammered by Nottingham Forest. They did manage to edge past Bristol City by two goals to one at the weekend in the cup but Newcastle remain favourites for this one, especially on Tyneside.

Newcastle vs Wolves Tip: Newcastle to win
