ALEX PEREZ VS MANEL KAPE LOWDOWN
Not many people would have thought Alex Perez (24-7) would be without a win in nearly three years. Inactivity has not helped only fighting twice but he got ruthlessly submitted by Deiveson Figueiredo (2020) in his title fight and submitted again by Alexandre Pantoja (2022).
In contrasting form, Manel Kape (18-6) is on a three-fight streak after losing his first two UFC fights. He bounced back with vintage knockouts over Ode Osbourne (2021) and Zhalgas Zhumagulov (2021) and followed that up with a unanimous decision over David Dvorak (2022).
ALEX PEREZ VS MANEL KAPE PREDICTION
This is a very important fight for Perez to prove he can fight for a title again. However, this is a very tough fight to bounce back as Kape has never looked better.
He is a good wrestler, but his striking has been electrifying. He is accurate and boasts deadly knockout power in his hands. He will have the speed advantage, but what will make the stand-up contest interesting, is that Perez boasts some of the best leg kicks in the division.
We fully expect Perez to try and chop down Kape’s lead right leg to disable the power and movement. His wrestling could also be key here. Kape is also a good wrestler, but Perez can time his level-changes and tie Kape up to assume some control time.
We expect this to be a very even contest so considering the odds, Perez holds all of the value especially if he incorporates his leg kicks and wrestling. However, we are backing the form, speed and power of Kape.
