Belinda Bencic vs Anastasia Zakharova prediction

Belinda Bencic has not competed for over a month, as she lost in the first-round of the US Open to Yulia Putintseva. The Swiss had been struggling with a hip injury, which forced her to withdraw from the Canadian Open at the quarter-final stage before retiring from her opening match at Cincinnati. Bencic is yet to advance to a semi-final in 2026, but she is still ranked just outside the world’s top 10. She reached the round-of-16 of this tournament last year.

Bencic received a bye in round one and now faces Anastasia Zakharova. The 24-year-old ended a three-match losing run in Beijing, crushing Yushan Shao inside an hour. Zakharova was not broken on serve and conceded just the two games, racing to a 6-0 6-2 victory.

Bencic has not played for a while, but she is still the far more established player in this match-up and is the heavy favourite to come through with a win.
