One of the most anticipated matches in Premier League history sees Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield after the international break.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Sky Sports / USA – NBC

Liverpool preview: Unbeaten Reds

Andoni Iraola has overseen a seven-match unbeaten run across all competitions since taking charge of Liverpool, albeit their form in the Premier League has been undermined by draws at home to Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town.

The Reds went into the break on the back of defeating Tottenham Hotspur by three goals to one in the third round of the EFL Cup before edging to a 1-0 win away from home against Iraola’s former club AFC Bournemouth a few days later.

Man City preview: A chaotic few weeks

Over the international break, the Premier League confirmed that an independent commission had found Manchester City guilty of 114, out of 115, charges that could well see a punishment that turns English football on its head, if it isn’t already.

On the pitch, Manchester City began the season with a 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield but they have since gone on to win seven games on the bounce to start the Enzo Maresca era at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool team news: Couple of key doubts

Alexander Isak has sustained a slight injury issue on international duty with Sweden and so he is a doubt but is expected to be fine alongside Netherlands international attacker Cody Gakpo.

The form of Florian Wirtz remains a talking point with Andoni Iraola surely getting closer to taking him out of the eleven, especially against a team of the standard of City.

Further details will appear here following pre-match press conferences…

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Araujo, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Barcola, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Isak

Unavailable: Leoni (Injured), Bradley (Injured), Ekitike (Injured)

Questionable: Chiesa (Injured), Gakpo (Injured), Isak (Injured)

Man City team news: Foden still suspended

Having been sent off against Manchester United in the derby last month, Phil Foden is still missing through suspension with Antoine Semenyo also dealing with an injury but Jeremy Doku is now fit and available.

Nico O’Reilly had to withdraw from England international duty with Josko Gvardiol likely to again start at left-back alongside Marc Guehi, Ruben Dias and Matheus Nunes in defence.

Further details will appear here following pre-match press conferences…

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias, Guehi, Gvardiol; Fernandez, Anderson; Ndiaye, Cherki, Doku; Haaland

Unavailable: Foden (Suspended)

Questionable: O’Reilly (Injured), Semenyo (Injured)

Liverpool vs Man City prediction

It isn’t unreasonable to suggest this is one of the most fascinating matches in English football history as Manchester City return to action with a trip to Anfield. City’s punishment and the ramifications of the guilty verdict against them changes the perception of the last 15 to 20 years of English football and what is to come, too. The atmosphere will be raucous and Liverpool will seek to overwhelm a shaken City with the intense pressing style of Iraola and so siding with The Reds would be the way to go here.

Liverpool vs Man City tip: Double chance – Liverpool to win or draw
