In the first-leg of this first qualifying round tie last week, 2024 Finnish champions Kuopion Palloseura earned themselves a slender 1-0 victory over Milsami Orhei at Vare Areena TN in Finland’s eighth biggest city. In a close contest, Otto Ruoppi’s 73rd minute strike was enough to separate the two sides.
Milsami may well count themselves fortunate to have been in this competition, winning the Moldovan league title ahead of Sheriff Tiraspol in last season’s championship round, despite Sheriff going through the season unbeaten. KuPS will head to Moldova with a defensive and reactive intent.
Milsami will fancy their chances of overturning a slender deficit, but if KuPS have their way then it is likely to be a low-scoring encounter in this second-leg this week.
