Angers preview: Steady Angers
After the departure of Alexandre Dujeux to Lorient over the summer and the appointment of former Paris FC boss Stephane Gilli, Angers have started the season with two victories, a draw and three defeats in their opening six matches.
The home team were woeful last weekend as they were hammered 5-1 by Stade Brest at Stade Francis-le Ble in a game in which they were 5-1 down before going down to ten men due to a red card picked up by Jordan Lefort.
Marseille preview: Much-needed win
Financial restrictions prevented Olympique de Marseille from bringing any players in with Bruno Genesio dealt a bad hand but he endured a tough start with four successive defeats in Ligue 1 before the international break.
Marseille did get themselves a second win last weekend, though, as they defeated newly-promoted Troyes at Stade de l’Aube, courtesy of goals scored by Amine Harit and Himad Abdelli.
Angers team news: Lefort suspended
The aforementioned Jordan Lefort is now missing through suspension with both Ousmane Camara and Usman Simbakoli having now sustained injuries, too.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Lopes; Louer, Arcus, Gernigon, Kalulu; Belkelba, Van den Boomen; Allevinah, Belkhdim, Sbai; Peter
Unavailable: Lefort (Suspended)
Questionable: Camara (Injured), Simbakoli (Injured)
Marseille team news: Thin squad
Without reinforcements in the summer, Marseille could do without any injury issues and the visitors are now without defender Derek Cornelius and midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): De Lange; Bezahaf, Egan-Riley, Aguerd, Emerson; Kamissoko, Abdelli; Harit, Gomes, Igor Paixao; Gouiri
Unavailable: Cornelius (Injured), Hojbjerg (Injured)
Questionable:
Angers vs Marseille prediction
Marseille’s performances did improve towards the end of their four-game losing streak before actually playing worse again in their hard-fought victory against Troyes last weekend. Angers are quite a defensive team but lacked any cohesion last week so will want to batten down the hatches here so, while Marseille are firm favourites, a lower scoring clash seems a decent shout for this one.
