Mickey Gall: New Jersey native desperate to snap three-fight skid
Mickey Gall (7-6) is in desperate need of a win at UFC 309 after having lost his last three bouts in the Octagon. After two years out of action, Gall returned at UFC 302 and lost a unanimous decision at the hands of Bassil Hafez who is coincidentally also on this card. That was his third successive loss and one imagines his UFC future is on the line as he now faces Ramiz Brahimaj.
Ramiz Brahimaj: New Yorker aiming to avoid back-to-back losses for first time
Ramiz Brahimaj (10-5) is coming off a defeat himself as he lost to Themba Gorimbo in May early this year. That takes his record in the UFC to 2-3 and he will be desperate to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time in his professional MMA career. All ten of his wins have come via submission and the New Yorker will be looking for number eleven in his hometown.
Mickey Gall vs Ramiz Brahimaj Prediction
Mickey Gall and Ramiz Brahimaj will be desperate to get a win under their belts here but there is a feeling that they could nullify each other’s strengths. Both are submissions specialists and if they cannot find a way to stop their opponent, they seemingly lose.
That will likely change for one of them here but whether one can find that submission over the other, may be easier said than done.
Neither man has been hugely active in the last couple of years and so much will depend on how their preparations have been leading up to this fight.
We have a marginal preference for Brahimaj but with no real confidence. Likewise, we see this going the distance too but this fight feels like one best left alone.
Prediction: Fight to go the distance
