Mexico vs Japan prediction

El Tri, coached by former Real Mallorca boss Javier Aguirre, had declined in the last few years, but they appear to be improving once again. Having won the CONCACAF Nations League in March, the Mexicans then won the CONCACAF Gold Cup over the summer. They have now suffered just one defeat in their last 12 FIFA-recognised outings.

They now face a Japan side that have been brilliant to watch in recent years and the Blue Samurai have an extremely impressive and exciting generation of players coming through. The Japanese were the best team in the third round of AFC qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which concluded in the summer.

These are two sides that will head into next year with a lot of intrigue and excitement, and they are both playing good stuff at the moment so this should be a thriller for the neutral.

Mexico vs Japan tip: Both teams to score
