Metz preview: Struggling hosts

Metz come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat to an inconsistent Olympique de Marseille side at Stade Velodrome last weekend with Giorgi Tsitasivhili’s strike being made redundant by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Igor Paixao and Hamed Junior Traore.

The home team, who gained promotion to the top-flight last season, have endured a woeful campaign, as was to be expected, and they are heading down to Ligue 2 – with that potentially being mathematically confirmed this weekend.

Paris preview: Improving visitors

Ever since the appointment of Antoine Kombouare, Paris FC have been much-improved in the last month and a half or so as the Parisians try and propel themselves into the middle-of-the-table.

Their most impressive performance came last weekend as they defeated an in-form Monaco side by four goals to one, going 3-0 up early on with a brace from Jonathan Ikone, as well as a Ciro Immobile strike, before Luca Koleosho scored late on.

Metz team news: Couple of doubts

Metz are dealing with a couple of injury doubts for this one as former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Boubacar Traore is potentially sidelined alongside Believe Munongo.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sy; Kouao, Sane, Toure, Colin; Gbamin, Deminguet; Sarr, Hein, Tsitaishvili; Diallo

Unavailable: Mangondo (Injured)

Questionable: Munongo (Injured), Traore (Injured)

Paris team news: Lees-Melou suspended

Former Norwich City midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou is missing through suspension for this one, while attacking duo Jonathan Ikone and Jean-Philippe Krasso are also doubtful.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Trapp; Camara, Coppola, Mbow, Sangui; Chergui, Lopez; Geubbels, Munetsi, Simon; Immobile

Unavailable: Lees-Melou (Suspended), Hamel (Injured)

Questionable: Ikone (Injured), Krasso (Injured)

Metz vs Paris prediction

Paris’ excellent performance last week has extended their current unbeaten run of form in Ligue 1 to seven matches. The capital city club are well clear of the danger zone now, after a wobble, and are looking to build ahead of attacking next season. They face a Metz side that came up with them last season but have always been destined for the drop, and that should become closer, or get confirmed, this week.
