Matt Schnell vs Jimmy Flick prediction

The prelims come to an end but not before we have a fascinating flyweight match-up between two veterans who are both in need of a victory.

Matt Schnell (16-9 with one no contest) comes into this fight with Jimmy Flick (17-8) having lost his last three fights. Those have come against quality operators in Matheus Nicolau, Steve Erceg and Cody Durden and many of his career losses have come against the elite in the division such as Brandon Royval and Alexandre Pantoja.

While he may not be able to match it with the elite, he has been able to beat the best of the rest in that middle tier and he will be desperate to get back on track with a win here.

He takes on Jimmy Flick who has had an equally tough run losing three of his last four fights. His latest loss came at the hands of Nathan Maness who grabbed the unanimous decision win last June.

Flick did win last January as he submitted Malcolm Gordon but he has ultimately been found out to be a little one-dimensional as a submission specialist with little power. With 15 of his 17 wins coming by submission and the other two on the scorecards, Flick really only knows one way to win.

Neither man has a great deal of knockout power that is likely to pose the other any issues but it is Schnell who is a fraction more well-rounded. It is hard to have much confidence in either man coming into this one but we go with Schnell due to the fact he has been fighting against a much higher level of opposition compared to Flick.

Prediction: Matt Schnell to win
