Man Utd preview: UCL push

Ever since the appointment of Michael Carrick, Manchester United have been much-improved as they return from a two-week break sitting tucked inside the UEFA Champions League spots and in an excellent position to finish the season well.

The Red Devils did most recently share a frustrating 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in a game in which they did lead twice but ended up tripping up with Harry Maguire having been sent off in the 78th minute.

Leeds preview: Relegation battle

Daniel Farke and his Leeds United side are pushing themselves away from the bottom three and the relegation places but they aren’t in a brilliant position, beginning the match day sitting four points clear of the danger zone.

The visitors did earn themselves a famous win at the London Stadium last weekend as they defeated fellow strugglers West Ham United on penalties in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a dramatic 2-2 draw in the capital city.

Man Utd team news: Maguire suspended

Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have joined in training with Manchester United in Dublin this week but the key attackers remain doubtful for this week's clash against Leeds.

Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined, while Harry Maguire is missing through suspension. Patrick Dorgu is regaining fitness but he remains unavailable for the Red Devils.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Dalot, Yoro, Heaven, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Diallo, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo

Unavailable: De Ligt (Injured), Maguire (Suspended), Dorgu (Fitness)

Questionable: Martinez (Injured), Mbeumo (Fitness), Sesko (Fitness)

Leeds team news: Rodon and Stach out

It has been confirmed by Daniel Farke that defender Joe Rodon is missing through injury alongside midfielder Anton Stach; and they are expected to be sidelined until May.

The visitors also have a few other doubts as centre-back Jaka Bijol, full-back Gabriel Gudmundsson and Switzerland international attacker Noah Okafor all potentially unavailable.

Predicted XI (3-5-1-1): Darlow; Justin, Bornauw, Struijk; Bogle, Tanaka, Longstaff, Ampadu, Gnonto; Aaronson; Calvert-Lewin

Unavailable: Rodon (Injured), Stach (Injured), James (Injured)

Questionable: Bijol (Injured), Gudmundsson (Injured), Okafor (Injured)

Man Utd vs Leeds prediction

Leeds have been difficult to beat since the start of December. They have suffered just four defeats in 22 matches with all but a 4-0 hammering against Arsenal being unfortunate and by a one-goal margin. Manchester United will be aware that they will have to be at their absolute best. They have often looked a little shaky at the back and so Leeds will fancy themselves to pose a threat in Salford with a fun watch for the neutral seeming likely on Monday night.
