Man City Preview: Saving the season

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City could finish what has been a tumultuous season by earning themselves UEFA Champions League qualification as well as winning a trophy and the last ten days or so has seen them take massive steps towards those revised season targets.

City scored a last-gasp goal to defeat fellow top five contenders Aston Villa in their most recent Premier League outing before then eventually cruising to a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at Wembley Stadium in the semi-finals of the FA Cup last weekend.

Wolves Preview: Vitor Pereira’s Wolves

Following the appointment of former Porto boss Vitor Pereira in mid-to-late-December to replace Gary O’Neil, Wolverhampton Wanderers appeared destined for relegation to the Championship but they are now enjoying a magnificent run of form.

Their form under Pereira would see them challenging for the UEFA Champions League if extrapolated over the course of the season and Wolves’ 3-0 defeat of Leicester City at Molineux last weekend made it six successive victories in the Premier League.

Man City Team News: Haaland returns to training

Norway international striker Erling Haaland has returned to first-team training this week but Pep Guardiola has said he 'doesn't think' that the former Borussia Dortmund forward will be involved this weekend. The hosts also remain without defenders Nathan Ake and John Stones as well as Rodri.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Kovacic, Silva; McAtee, De Bruyne, Doku; Marmoush

Unavailable: Ake (Injured), Stones (Injured), Rodri (Fitness)

Questionable: Haaland (Fitness)

Wolves Team News: Nothing fresh

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Vitor Pereira has confirmed that Sam Johnstone has missed the last three matches due to a 'small problem' and the goalkeeper remains a doubt for this one and the same can be said for Pedro Lima as he returned to training from an ankle injury this week.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Sa; Doherty, Agbadou, Toti; Semedo, J. Gomes, Andre, Ait-Nouri; Munetsi, Cunha; Strand Larsen

Unavailable: Mosquera (Injured), Chiwone (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured), Kalajdzic (Injured)

Questionable: Johnstone (Injured), Lima (Fitness)

Man City vs Wolves Prediction

Despite their overall improvement in the last month and a half or so, Manchester City have still remained susceptible on the counter-attack and have often rode their luck in terms of teams just going straight through the middle of them. Wolves have some excellent in-form attackers at the moment, such as Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen, so will fancy themselves for a goal but City do remain favourites for this one, especially with their home advantage.

Man City vs Wolves Tip: Man City to win & both teams to score
