Mallorca Preview: Majorcan need some magic

Last summer, Javier Aguirre departed Real Mallorca for the Mexican national team and he was replaced by Osasuna boss Jago Arrasate as the Balearic Islanders looked to evolve their style and take a step forward and towards the European spots in La Liga.

The hosts have remained low-scoring and struggled for goals consistently this season, despite the evolution of their style to being more progressive. They were most recently beaten 1-0 by Girona at Montilivi in Catalonia in their most recent outing last weekend.

Real Valladolid Preview: Struggling Valladolid

Real Valladolid were relegated a couple of weeks ago with just 16 points collected and that has not changed as the Castile y Leon-based outfit try and show some pride in the final few weeks amid off-field issues in which Ronaldo is being hounded out by supporters.

The visitors did show some fight and regain some pride last weekend as they were beaten 2-1 by league leaders Barcelona at Estadio Jose Zorrilla in a game in which they did have a half-time lead thanks to a sixth minute strike from former Birmingham City winger Ivan Sanchez.

Mallorca Team News: Key attackers are back

Ahead of the visit of Valladolid to Palma de Mallorca this weekend, the hosts are dealing with some injury concerns but both Vedat Muriqi and Takuma Asano have returned to full fitness, albeit the experienced Abdon is now sidelined due to a calf injury.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Greif; Valjent, Antonio Raillo, Copete; Pablo Maffeo, Costa, Sergi Darder, Johan Mojica; Asano, Dani Rodriguez; Muriqi

Unavailable: Manu Morlanes (Injured), Robert Navarro (Injured), Abdon (Injured)

Real Valladolid Team News: A few issues

Valladolid have a few key issues as they make the trip to the Balearic Islands this weekend as defender Javi Sanchez is out injured, whilst Mamadou Sylla is missing through suspension. They also have some key injury doubts such as Joseph Aidoo and Henrique.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Ferreira; Candela, Cumart, Ozkacar; Anuar, Juric, Amallah, Aznou; Ivan Sanchez, Juanmi Latasa, Raul Moro

Unavailable: Javi Sanchez (Injured), Mamadou Sylla (Suspended)

Questionable: Aidoo (Injured), Henrique (Injured)

Mallorca vs Real Valladolid Prediction

Real Mallorca have, as mentioned, played a style of football that has been able to grind out results once again this season but they are extremely frustrating and they are also untrustworthy. However, even with Valladolid showing some fight last weekend, siding with the Majorcans is surely the way to go for this one at Son Moix in what is likely to be a low-scoring encounter, regardless of who comes out on top or the eventual match result.
