Mainz Preview: Need top six

Mainz come into this one on the back of a continuation of a poor run of form that has seen them slip out of the top six and the European spots in the Bundesliga. Seventh won’t qualify this year with the DFB-Pokal final being between Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 3-0 loss to champions-elect Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in Bavaria last weekend to mean they are now winless in their last six matches in the Bundesliga since a four-match winning streak before the international break.

Eintracht Frankfurt Preview: Push for top four

Coached by Dino Toppmoller, Eintracht Frankfurt now look set to finish in the top four of the Bundesliga and earn themselves UEFA Champions League qualification, despite the sale of Omar Marmoush to Manchester City in the winter transfer window.

Frankfurt sought to all but wrap up their top four finish with a 4-0 demolition of RB Leipzig at the Waldstadion last weekend thanks to a brace of goals from Ansgar Knauff as well as second-half strikes scored by striker Hugo Ekitike and defender Robin Koch.

Mainz Team News: Some doubts

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Zentner; Da Costa, Hanche-Olsen, Kohr; Widmer, Sano, Amiri, Mwene; Nebel, Lee; Burkardt

Eintracht Frankfurt Team News: A couple of issues

Kevin Trapp has returned from injury and it is good timing as his understudy Kaua Santos is now unavailable, whilst Rasmus Nissen Kristensen and Mario Gotze are among those that are doubts for Frankfurt.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Trapp; Tuta, Koch, Theate; Collins, Skhiri, Larsson, Brown; Knauff, Bahoya; Ekitike

Questionable: Kristensen (Injured), Dina Ebimbe (Injured), Gotze (Injured), Matanovic (Illness)

Mainz vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction

Mainz are pushing for UEFA Europa League qualification this season but they need to turn their form around and quickly with Borussia Dortmund appearing to race away and even look likely to gatecrash the top four. The team that appear solidly in third in the battle for Europe are Mainz’ upcoming opponents, Frankfurt. These are two sides enjoying good seasons and playing a good style of football so both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one.

Mainz vs Eintracht Frankfurt Tip: Both teams to score
