Olympique Lyonnais could do with bouncing back after a defeat last week as they now welcome likely relegation battlers Angers at Parc OL on Saturday.

Lyon preview: Beaten last week

Coached by Paulo Fonseca, Olympique Lyonnais come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat to now league leaders Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes due to second half goals scored by Mika Godts and Senny Mayulu.

Lyon have now slipped out of the top four in Ligue 1 ahead of this match day with that being their second defeat of the campaign domestically. They have been fairly unconvincing since returning to action after the extended international break.

Angers preview: Indifferent start

Angers have been steady enough so steer clear of the bottom three and the relegation places in Ligue 1 in recent seasons but they were always expected to struggle again this time around, especially after the departure of Alexandre Dujeux to Lorient.

Former Paris FC boss Stephane Gilli took charge but Angers have remained underwhelming with two victories in their eight matches thus far, sharing a goalless draw with Dujeux’s former club Lorient last weekend.

Lyon team news: Several issues

Lyon have several issues for this one as Keito Nakamura remains missing through suspension, with fellow attackers Pavel Sulc and Lois Openda still unavailable due to injury.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Greif; Athekame, Bacher, Niakhate, Abner; Tessmann, Morton, Tolisso; Nuamah, Merah, Duranville

Unavailable: Ouedraogo (Injured), Tagliafico (Injured), Kango (Concussion), Sulc (Injured), Nakamura (Suspended), Openda (Injured)

Questionable:

Angers team news: Fresh injuries

Angers head into this one with some fresh injury issues for this one as midfield trio Bane Diatta, Emmanuel Biumla and Amine El Ouazzani are all potentially unavailable.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Lopes; Arcus, Camara, Lefort, Kalulu; Belkhdim, Van den Boomen; Raolisoa, Peter, Sbai; Allevinah

Unavailable:

Questionable: Diatta (Injured), Biumla (Injured), El Ouazzani (Injured)

Lyon vs Angers prediction

Lyon were expected to continue to evolve their style under Paulo Fonseca with a more front foot, possession-based style of football but they have remained relatively underwhelming in terms of how fluent they can be in the final third. That said, they come up against a fairly average Angers side so they are firm favourites, albeit it may not be a rampant display at Parc OL.

Lyon vs Angers tip: Lyon to win & under 3.5 goals
