Lens preview: Frustrating Lens

In March, Paris Saint-Germain took a week off in their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Chelsea but, despite the opportunity to go top, Lens have timed their spring blip.

Last weekend, the northerners' to clash with PSG was inexplicably postponed by the league, with Lens sitting four points behind the Parisians. The hosts have now won just two of their last six matches in Ligue 1.

Toulouse preview: Focus on the cup

Toulouse will be focused on the semi-finals of the Coupe de France, rather than Ligue 1, and it appears as though they really have begun to give up on league form as they turn their attentions elsewhere.

Toulouse, with Carlos Martinez Novell at the helm, head into this one on the back of  4-0 annihilation at the hands of Lille as they sink into the bottom-half of the table in France’s top-flight.

Lens team news: Defensive injuries

Lens are dealing with several injury issues in defence as Jonathan Gradit is still sidelined alongside both Kyllian Anderson Antonio and Nidal Celik, alongside goalkeeper Regis Gurtner.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Risser; Bulatovic, Ganiou, Sarr; Abdulhamid, Sangare, Thomasson, Udol; Thauvin, Said; Edouard

Unavailable: Gurtner (Injured), Gradit (Injured), Antonio (Injured), Celik (Injured)

Questionable:

Toulouse team news: McKenzie suspended

Toulouse defender Mark McKenzie is now missing through suspension for this one, while Cameroonian striker Frank Magri is a confirmed absentee alongside Rafik Messali and Abu Francis.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Restes; Cresswell, Koumbassa, Nicolaisen; Sidibe, Cristian Casseres Jr, Diop, Methalie; Donnum, Gboho; Emersonn

Unavailable: McKenzie (Suspended), Messali (Injured), Francis (Injured), Magri (Injured)

Lens vs Toulouse prediction

Lens’ most recent outing saw them hammered 3-0 by Lille in the Derby du Nord a couple of weeks ago and there is growing frustration at their form. These two sides will face off against each other back at the same venue in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France in a few days’ time. Lens have to be viewed as firm favourites but a nervy night may be in store as they stumble their way into competing with PSG at the top-of-the-table.
