Leganes Preview: Lega’s frustration
Leganes gained automatic promotion to the top-flight of Spanish football last season under the management of Borja Jimenez and the Madrid-based outfit have been competitive this season but they do now appear destined for an immediate return to the second-tier.
The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw away to Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Andalusia last weekend in a game in which they were by far the better side and they had taken an early lead in that game via Munir in Seville.
Espanyol Preview: Espanyol’s improvement
Espanyol have turned things around out of nowhere in the last few months in the second-half of the campaign with former B team coach Manolo Gonzalez at the helm and the Catalans are pushing towards the middle-of-the-table ahead of the final three games of the campaign.
However, they do now come into this one on the back of back-to-back losses and they were beaten in dramatic circumstances last weekend, suffering a 2-1 loss to Real Betis at the RCDE Stadium in which both Betis goals were scored late on via Giovani Lo Celso and Antony.
Leganes Team News: Munir a doubt
The aforementioned Munir is now a doubt for this weekend’s visit of Espanyol due to injury alongside confirmed absentees Borna Barisic and Enric Franquesa. Defender Javi Hernandez is also missing through suspension for Lega this weekend.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): Dmitrovic; Chicco, Jorge Saenz, Sergio, Nastasic; Juan Cruz, Renato Tapia, Brasanac, Duk; Dani Raba, Oscar
Unavailable: Javi Hernandez (Suspended), Barisic (Injured), Enric Franquesa (Injured)
Questionable: Munir (Injured)
Espanyol Team News: El Hilali suspended
Right-back Omar El Hilali has been excellent for the visitors but does appear destined for a move this summer and he is unavailable for this weekend’s trip to Butarque as he is missing through suspension for this one.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Joan Garcia; Sergi Gomez, Kumbulla, Leandro Cabrera, Carlos Romero; Urko Gonzalez, Kral; Alex Roca, Edu Exposito, Javi Puado; Roberto Fernandez
Unavailable: El Hilali (Suspended)
Questionable: Brian Olivan (Injured), Jose Gragera (Injured), Pol Lozano (Injured)
Leganes vs Espanyol Prediction
Leganes have taken the game to some of the best teams in Spain this season with a victory over Barcelona as well as having recent 2-1 leads against Real Betis and Barcelona who eventually succumbed to 3-2 losses. They now face an Espanyol side that may well be coasting now towards the end of the campaign as they prepare for the nightmare scenario of Barcelona winning the league title in Cornella in midweek. Siding with Leganes may well be the way to go for this one, especially at Butarque.
Leganes vs Espanyol Tip: Double chance – Leganes to win or draw
