Something of a derby, at least in the context of UEFA Champions League league phase football, Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven face Belgian champions Club Brugge.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV & online: UK – TNT Sports & HBO Max / USA – Paramount+

PSV preview: Fun PSV

PSV Eindhoven come into this one on the back of a 7-0 demolition of Willem II in the Eredivisie at the weekend. That was much-needed after an inconsistent run of form which does mean they remain third in the table behind Feyenoord and Ajax.

In the UEFA Champions League, Peter Bosz’ entertaining Dutch giants began with a 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk before a loss to RB Leipzig and then a victory against Portuguese champions FC Porto.

Club Brugge preview: Strong in Europe

Much like last season, Club Brugge have been entertaining and competitive once again in the UEFA Champions League and that has helped them bloody the nose of many, as has been the case again this season.

After a 3-2 loss to Aston Villa, they then defeated Internazionale by four goals to three at San Siro before the Belgian giants backed that up by hammering Lens by three goals to nil at the Jan Breydel Stadion.

PSV team news: Quartet of absentees

PSV have a quartet of injury absentees for this one, such as midfielder Jordy Schouten, attacking midfielder Paul Wanner and striking duo Alassana Plea and Sam Lammers.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Kovar; Dest, Geertruida, Gasiorowski, Kostic; Sano, Til, Junior; Bajraktarevic, Mijnans, Perisic

Unavailable: Schouten (Injured), Wanner (Injured), Plea (Injured), Lammers (Injured)

Questionable:

Club Brugge team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury issues for Club Brugge to deal with as they make the short trip over the border into the Netherlands with Ecuador international centre-back Joel Ordonez remaining their only absentee for the time being.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Sommer; Sabbe, Spileers, Mechele, Seys; Lemarechal, Potts, Vanaken; Forbs, Tresoldi, Virgili

Unavailable: Ordonez (Injured)

Questionable:

PSV vs Club Brugge prediction

Club Brugge entertainingly defeated Zulte-Waregem by four goals to two at the weekend, meaning that they have now extended their winning streak to eight matches across all competitions since losing to Villa. PSV have been a little more cautious, unusually for a Bosz-coached side, this time around but it must surely be just around the corner whereby chaos ensues at the Philips Stadion and Club Brugge are perhaps the ideal opponent to draw that out of the hosts.

PSV vs Club Brugge Tip: Over 2.5 goals
