Atalanta preview: Underperforming Bergamasci

Maurizio Sarri is in charge of an underperforming Atalanta side as they begin the match day sitting in the bottom half of the Serie A table with just three victories in nine matches so far this season.

Atalanta took the lead against Fiorentina in midweek before falling behind at Stadio Artemio Franchi, eventually equalising in the 74th minute via former Roma man Nicola Zalewski.

Parma preview: Poor Parma

Carlos Cuesta was sacked in the international break with his defensive prowess as a coach undermined by the sales of goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and centre-back Alessandro Circati to Aston Villa and Benfica respectively over the summer.

Now under the management of Alberto Gilardino, Parma had endured three successive defeats before they ended that losing streak by sharing a goalless draw with fellow strugglers Udinese at the Ennio Tardini the other day.

Atalanta team news: Fresh absentees

Atalanta have some fresh injury absentees for this weekend as versatile wing-back Raoul Bellanova has now been sidelined alongside former West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Carnesecchi; Zappacosta, Kristensen, Obric, Bernasconi; Gaetano, Ederson; Elmas, De Ketelaere, Zalewski; Krstovic

Unavailable: Hien (Injured), Kossounou (Injured), Kolasinac (Injured), Bellanova (Injured), Kessie (Injured), Scamacca (Injured), Raspadori (Injured)

Questionable: Scalvini (Fitness), Sulemana (Fitness)

Parma team news: Nothing fresh

Suffering from appendicitis, Nesta Elphege remains unavailable alongside Lautaro Valenti but Parma are not dealing with any fresh injury absentees for this one.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Daffara; Del Prato, Troilo, Drobnic; Britschgi, Adrian Bernabe, Sierro, Keita, Carboni; Romero, Toure

Unavailable: Valenti (Injured), Elphege (Illness)

Questionable:

Atalanta vs Parma prediction

Parma were defensively solid throughout last season but key departures led to a poor start and they have now improved since opting to change their manager during the international break. Sarri is under pressure in Bergamo but he will be frustrated by the fact performances haven’t quite been as poor as results would suggest and so the hosts should come out on top here.
