Tottenham preview: Rare win at Stamford Bridge

Tottenham appear like they may have turned a corner with a 2-0 at Chelsea last time out undoubtedly their best moment this season, especially as Stamford Bridge has generally not been a happy hunting ground for them.

They are now unbeaten in three Premier League games (W2 D1) and had no midweek cup game so come into this one fresh, their lengthy injury list notwithstanding.

Crystal Palace preview: Cup win a boost but league form must improve

Crystal Palace's last Premier League outing ended in a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle, which followed a 5-0 loss at Brighton. Heading into this round of fixtures, the Eagles have conceded 19 league goals – the most in the division – and there is undeniable pressure on manager Pierre Sage right now.

Their midweek Carabao Cup trip to Fulham went better though, with Eddie Nketiah scoring the only goal of the game before half-time and goalkeeper Dean Henderson making several important saves.

Tottenham team news

Crystal Palace team news: Sarr confirmed out

Ismaila Sarr is not able to play at the moment according to Sage, but Henderson is available again and could threaten Walter Benitez for a starting spot in goal.

Quinten Timber and Jorgen Strand Larsen have a good chance of inclusion in Saturday's squad.

Unavailable: Riad (Injured), Tomiyasu (Injured), Sarr (Injured)

  • Palace have won on each of their last two visits to Tottenham, 2-0 in May 2025 and 3-1 in March 2026, after Tottenham had won nine successive home league games against them; Tottenham's home record in the fixture is W10 D4 L3.
  • Palace have won three of the last four meetings, Tottenham's only win in that run being 1-0 at Selhurst Park in December 2025.
  • Tottenham's joint-biggest Premier League win over Palace is 4-0, at home in September 2019 and away in January 2023; Palace's joint-biggest is 3-0 at Selhurst Park, in January 2005 and September 2021.
  • Tottenham come into Matchweek 9 unbeaten in three league games (W2 D1), including a 2-0 win at Chelsea last time out.
  • Tottenham have won only two of their last ten home league games (D3 L5), and lost ten of 19 at home in 2025/26 (W3 D6).

  • Palace have lost their last two league games without scoring, 5-0 at Brighton and 2-0 at home to Newcastle.
  • Palace have won one of their four away league games this season (D1 L2), 3-2 at Fulham.
  • Michael Oliver has refereed four previous meetings and Tottenham won all four without conceding: 2-0 in 2014, 1-0 in 2015 and 2016, and 4-0 at Palace in 2023.
  • Palace have lost 19 of their 34 Premier League games under Oliver (W11 D4).

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace prediction

After a worrying start to the season, Tottenham are beginning to play with more conviction and Roberto De Zerbi has started to get a tune out of his summer signings, with Mateus Fernandes particularly effective against Chelsea.

Palace, meanwhile, arrive having lost their last two league matches without scoring and with the worst defensive record in the division (prior to the weekend). It's been a busy schedule for the Eagles and that is clearly having an effect on Sage's somewhat limited squad.

It is well publicised that Spurs have struggled at home in recent times, but this looks like a welcome fixture for them against a struggling side. We're backing a home win.
