Lecce Preview: Fighting Lecce

Under the management of Marco Giampaolo, who replaced Luca Gotti earlier this season, Lecce are currently enduring an 11-match winless run of form as they get dragged to just two points above the danger zone ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Last weekend, they were unhappy with Serie A only postponing their clash with Atalanta for 48 hours due to the death of Lecce physio Graziano Fiorita at the age of 38. They then earned themselves a spirited 1-1 draw in that game in Bergamo.

Napoli Preview: Conte’s Napoli

Napoli come into this one on the back of three successive victories as they now move three points clear of defending champions Internazionale at the top of Serie A as the Nerazzurri suffer an ill-timed wobble and Antonio Conte’s Neapolitans take advantage.

The Partenopei come into this one on the back of a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Torino at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples last weekend thanks to a brace of first-half goals scored by Scotland international midfielder Scott McTominay.

Lecce Team News: A few absentees

Ahead of the visit of Napoli to Apulia this weekend, Lecce are dealing with no fresh injury concerns but still a few absentees such as defender Gaby Jean as well as midfield duo Filip Marchwinski and Spaniard Joan Gonzalez.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Falcone; Guilbert, Gaspar, Baschirotto, Gallo; Coulibaly, Pierret; Pierotti, Kaba, Karlsson; Rebic

Unavailable: Jean (Injured), Marchwinski (Injured), Joan Gonzalez (Injured)

Questionable:

Napoli Team News: Key doubts

As they make the trip further south, Napoli are dealing with a couple of injury doubts for this one such as Italy international centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno and Cameroon international midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Rafa Marin, Mathias Olivera; Gilmour, Lobotka, McTominay; Politano, Lukaku, Spinazzola

Unavailable: Juan (Injured), David Neres (Injured)

Questionable: Buongiorno (Injured), Anguissa (Injured)

Lecce vs Napoli Prediction

Lecce have been woeful throughout the campaign and they could well be viewed as circling the drain as they were hovering just above the danger zone before something of a mini escape last season. They now face a Napoli side that have gone into ultra Antonio Conte mode as they make things extremely difficult for their opposition and have enough ‘automatisms’ to regularly get themselves over the line and that is once again the likeliest outcome for this one at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.

Lecce vs Napoli Tip: Napoli to win to nil
