Karen Khachanov vs Daniil Medvedev Prediction
Karen Khachanov takes on a familiar foe in Daniil Medvedev in a first-round match which would certainly be befitting of a latter round encounter.
The Russian pair have played each other seven times before on the ATP Tour and Medvedev has won five of those matches. Khachanov can take some solace in the fact that he won the last meeting in Monte Carlo last year but Medvedev has typically had the edge in recent times.
Khachanov ended 2024 in fine form but he has started the new year a little slowly. He was eliminated by Hamad Medjedovic last week in his opening match and he has yet to really find his rhythm.
Medvedev played in the same tournament in Marseille last week and while he got to the semi-finals, he lost to the same opponent as Khachanov with Medjedovic beating him 6-3 6-2. He too has yet to get anywhere close to his best in 2025 but there were some better signs at least last week.
This one is pretty unpredictable and we would approach this one with caution. We like Medvedev based on previous meetings and he does have the marginal edge in form but he is always capable of suffering a shock elimination. We have to lean towards him here though to get the win.
