Karolina Muchova vs Naomi Osaka prediction

Karolina Muchova progressed to the next round of the China Open after coming from a set down to beat Liudmila Samsonova. Muchova was not broken on serve in sets two and three as she won 4-6 6-4 6-2 after two hours and 19 minutes. She began her campaign with a win over British number one Katie Boulter.

Muchova now faces Naomi Osaka. The four-time Grand Slam champion progressed after a straight sets win over Sara Bejlek in the third-round. Bejlek opened up a 5-3 lead in the first set, but Osaka broke back and took the lead after winning the tiebreak. Despite failing to serve out the match, the Japanese player broke Bejlek’s serve once again to seal a 7-6 (4) 6-4 win. 

Muchova leads the head-to-head 4-3, but Osaka is ahead 3-1 on outdoor hard court. Their most recent encounter was at the quarter-final stage of Wimbledon, with Muchova winning in straight sets. Osaka is a difficult player to beat on this surface and should be able to remain competitive if she serves well.
