Coco Gauff vs Sun Xinran prediction

Coco Gauff came through a tough three set match against Camila Osorio to book her place in the third-round of the China Open. In the first match since her US Open semi-final loss to Elena Rybakina, Gauff was broken on serve four times and committed five double faults, though largely dominated the decider to win 7-6 (4) 4-6 6-2 after two hours and 18 minutes. Gauff is searching for a second title of the season, following success at the Cincinnati Open.

Her next opponent is Sun Xinran. The 16-year-old produced one of the shocks of the previous round after beating Cristina Bucsa in straight sets. Sun was a break down in the second set but fought back to win 6-4 7-5. This was her first career win over a top 50 opponent, and she is the first player born in 2010 to advance to the third-round of a WTA 1000 event.

Gauff was not close to her best in the previous round, but she will be expected to improve against such an inexperienced player in round three.
