Inter Milan preview: Inter need to bounce back

Internazionale have undergone changes in the dugout over the summer, with Cristian Chivu replacing Simone Inzaghi, who left for Al Hilal after their 5-0 loss in the UEFA Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

The Nerazzurri were dominant in Italy in the 2023/24 campaign, and they appeared on course for the treble last season, before a week of domestic slip ups in Serie A and the Coppa Italia in early-May knocked the momentum, ahead of that eventual PSG loss.

Torino preview: Baroni in Turin

Torino have been a team that have become stagnant in the mid-table in Serie A, and there will need to be an improvement this year because standing still runs the risk of big spenders, like Como last year and potentially Pisa or Sassuolo this year, pushing them further towards the bottom three and the relegation places.

Former Hellas Verona and Lazio boss Marco Baroni has replaced former Venezia boss Paolo Vanoli at the helm at the Stadio Olimpico Grande di Torino. Baroni performed miracles with Verona and will be expected to improve Torino this season.

Inter Milan team news: Couple of suspensions

Inter have a couple of suspensions on the opening day as key man Hakan Calhanoglu is sidelined for the hosts alongside young striker Francesco Pio Esposito, too.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Mkhitaryan, Sucic, Darmian; Lautaro Martinez, Thuram

Unavailable: Calhanoglu (Suspended), F. P. Esposito (Suspended), Taremi (Injured)

Questionable: Dimarco (Injured), Frattesi (Injured)

Torino team news: Schuurs still out

Perr Schuurs has missed over a year due to a knee injury and he remains sidelined alongside the likes of Saba Sazonov, Ardian Ismajli and Alieu Njie on the opening day.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Franco Israel; Pedersen, Saul Coco, Masina, Biraghi; Gineitis, Casadei; Ngonge, Vlasic, Aboukhlal; Adams

Unavailable: Schuurs (Injured), Sazonov (Injured), Ismajli (Injured), Njie (Injured)

Questionable:

Inter Milan vs Torino prediction

The expectation is that Inter ease themselves to a comfortable victory here, and the squad remains a strong one, but there has to be reasonable reservations over their performance level, especially with what Baroni can do. Inter should win but it is unlikely to be overly convincing in Lombardy.

Inter Milan vs Torino tip: Inter Milan to win & under 3.5 goals
