Hungary vs Ireland prediction

Hungary come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat of Armenia in Yerevan the other day, courtesy of a 33rd minute strike scored by Ferencvaros striker Barnabas Varga. The Hungarians now sit a couple of points behind league leaders and one of the tournament favourites Portugal in Group F.

The Republic of Ireland, with former Iceland boss Heimur Hallgrimsson at the helm, are third in their group and they have a chance of finishing as runner up and reaching the playoffs. That is because they pulled off a major upset as they managed to ease past Portugal by two goals to nil with Cristiano Ronaldo sent off in the second-half.

Ireland head to Budapest seeking to shut up shop and make things difficult for their opposition, which should be easy enough for them against a low-scoring Hungary side.

Hungary vs Ireland tip: Under 2.5 goals
