This is the fourth crucial clash between Greece and Scotland in this calendar year, albeit the Greeks have already been eliminated from qualification.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – BBC / US – FOX Sports

How to watch online: UK – BBC iPlayer / US – Disney+

Key stats

  • Greece have lost three consecutive World Cup qualifying matches for the first time since the 1974 edition. Another defeat in this fixture would equal their all-time record of four successive losses in World Cup qualifying — a mark they’ve reached twice before: between 16 June 1957 and 20 November 1960, and again from 18 November 1972 to 19 December 1973.
  • Scotland have won three of the last four international matches between these teams (L1).
  • Scotland have lost just two of their last 21 World Cup qualifiers (W14 D5), winning nine of the last 11.

Greece vs Scotland prediction

Greece have been immensely impressive in the last couple of years and they managed to overturn a home-leg defeat to Scotland to ensure they gained promotion to League A of the UEFA Nations League back in March.

However, they have not been at the races from the off in UEFA qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and now Scotland will head to Athens knowing that if they finish their campaign off with a couple of victories then they will qualify for the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1998.

Scotland defeated Greece in Athens back in that aforementioned tie in March and the Tartan Army will be confident they can control and exploit the Greeks this weekend.

Scotland have to be viewed as favoured to at least avoid defeat down in southern Europe this week, but it is unlikely to be remotely entertaining for the neutral.

Greece vs Scotland tip: Double chance – Scotland to win or draw & under 3.5 goals
