Getafe preview: Chasing Europe

Jose Bordalas’ Getafe begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the top five and the potential UEFA Champions League spots in La Liga after a brilliant run of form through the spring.

The home team come into this one on the back of defeating Copa del Rey winners Real Sociedad by a goal to nil in the Basque Country in midweek, courtesy of an own goal scored by Jon Gorrotxategi mid-way through the first-half.

Barcelona preview: Defending champions

Barcelona are nine points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga with an opportunity to potentially clinch the title in the Clasico against Los Blancos at Camp Nou in a couple of weeks.

In midweek, Barca edged past an out of form Celta Vigo side by a goal to nil in Catalonia, courtesy of a first-half penalty from Lamine Yamal, with Barca controlling the game but struggling to find gaps against the Galicians.

Getafe team news: Mario Martin a doubt

Versatile midfielder Mario Martin is a doubt for this one as he deals with a hamstring injury, while defender Zaid Romero remains unavailable due to suspension for the hosts.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): David Soria; Djene, Abqar, Sebastian Boselli; Kiko Femenia, Luis Milla, Mauro Arambarri, Juan Iglesias; Adrian Liso, Luis Vazquez, Martin Satriano

Unavailable: Zaid Romero (Suspended), Borja Mayoral (Injured)

Questionable: Mario Martin (Injured)

Barcelona team news: Lamine Yamal injury

Lamine Yamal has suffered a reported hamstring tear which will make his run up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup a tough one. He is sidelined alongside Raphinha, while Eric Garcia is missing through suspension.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Joan Garcia; Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, Gerard Martin; De Jong, Pedri; Bardghji, Fermin Lopez, Rashford; Ferran Torres

Unavailable: Christensen (Injured), Eric Garcia (Suspended), Lamine Yamal (Injured), Raphinha (Injured)

Questionable: Marc Bernal (Injured), Cancelo (Injured)

Getafe vs Barcelona prediction

Getafe’s victory against La Real means that they have now enjoyed three victories in their last four matches in La Liga. They are as obdurate and, often, as irritating as ever but they are effective. They face a Barca side that are struggling, without Raphinha and now without Lamine Yamal, to be precise in the final third and, while Barca remain favourites, it may be another low-scoring victory in the Community of Madrid.

Getafe vs Barcelona tip: Barcelona to win & under 3.5 goals
