Genoa find themselves in a tricky spot in terms of their form as they welcome a strong and impressive Sassuolo side to the Luigi Ferraris in Liguria on Sunday.

Genoa preview: Steady but poor form

Genoa come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats either side of the March international break, having most recently succumbed to a 2-0 loss to Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin last weekend.

The Genovese have been much-improved since the appointment of former Roma boss Daniele De Rossi in early November, having started the season without a win in their opening nine matches before the sacking of Patrick Vieira.

Sassuolo preview: Push for the top-half

Sassuolo, with Fabio Grosso at the helm, have been impressive as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the top-half of the Serie A table after their promotion to the top-flight last season.

The visitors most recently defeated Cagliari by two goals to one last weekend, as they came from behind in the second-half with goals scored by Ulisses Garcia and Andrea Pinamonti.

Genoa team news: A few doubts

Genoa are dealing with a few injury doubts with the freshest being that of Jean Onana, while former Arsenal man Brooke Norton-Cuffy is also potentially still sidelined alongside former Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Biljow; Marandalli, Ostigard, Johan Vasquez; Ellertsson, Frendrup, Malinovskiy, Caricol; Junior Messias, Colombo, Vitinha

Unavailable:

Questionable: Norton-Cuffy (Injured), Onana (Injured), Cornet (Injured)

Sassuolo team news: Couple of doubts

Canada international midfielder Ismael Kone is now a doubt for this weekend alongside fellow midfielder Daniel Boloca. Fali Cande is sidelined alongside Edoardo Pieragnolo.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Muric; Walukiewicz, Idzes, Romagna, Ulisses Garcia; Berardi, Thorstvedt, Matic, Lauriente; Volpato, Pinamonti

Unavailable: Cande (Injured), Pieragnolo (Injured)

Questionable: Kone (Injured), Boloca (Injured)

Genoa vs Sassuolo prediction

Sassuolo should never have been in Serie B in the first instance but they have very much turned things around since then and got back on track as an upwardly mobile team that will be aiming for Europe next season. Genoa, with home advantage, will be confident of getting themselves back on track this weekend and so both teams scoring seems a good bet for this one.

Genoa vs Sassuolo tip: Both teams to score
