Fulham preview: Fading Fulham

Marco Silva may well be coming to the end of an impressive stint in charge of Fulham as the west Londoners succumb to another mid-table finish in what has been an open race for European football.

Their most recent outing, a goalless draw in a derby with Brentford last weekend, means that they have now won just one of their last six matches across all competitions.

Aston Villa preview: Comfortable Villa

Unai Emery and his Aston Villa side have a UEFA Europa League semi-final against Nottingham Forest to look forward to after their recent 7-1 aggregate demolition of Bologna.

The Villans have also more or less wrapped up UEFA Champions League qualification in the league with a dramatic 4-3 defeat of Sunderland, courtesy of a last-gasp Tammy Abraham winner last weekend.

Fulham team news: Iwobi out

It has been confirmed that Alex Iwobi is now sidelined through injury. He limped off against Brentford, albeit Marco Silva has said he hopes to have him before the end of the season.

The Cottagers do have a couple of other injury absentees as Kenny Tete is sidelined alongside club-record signing Kevin.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Leno; Andersen, Diop, Bassey; Castagne, Berge, Lukic, Robinson; Wilson, Smith Rowe; Jimenez

Unavailable: Tete (Injured), Iwobi (Injured), Kevin (Injured)

Questionable:

Aston Villa team news: Nothing new

Unai Emery didn’t deliver much team news ahead of the trip to Craven Cottage, with Boubacar Kamara remaining the only known injury absentee.

There could well be some rotation thrown into the mix here with Villa all but assured of UEFA Champions League football ahead of their upcoming test against Forest in Europe.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Konsa, Torres, Mings, Maatsen; Luiz, Onana; Bailey, Rogers, Sancho; Watkins

Unavailable: Kamara (Injured)

Questionable: Alysson (Fitness)

Fulham vs Aston Villa prediction

That win for Villa showed their best and worst, giving up a 3-1 lead late on and allowing an often low-scoring Sunderland side to more or less run riot at one stage. That said, they know how to win games and they know how to fight; something Fulham may be forgetting as they finish the season with a bit of a whimper and siding with an away win is the way to go for this one in the English capital city.

Fulham vs Aston Villa tip: Aston Villa to win
