Los Blancos were inspired by another magnificent performance in midweek by the Englishman as they defeated Napoli by four goals to two in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
They are sitting at the top-of-the-table ahead of this match day, sitting above Girona on the head-to-head rule with 35 points collected in their 14 matches so far. They have suffered just one defeat, which came in the Madrid derby against Atletico in September, in their 19 games in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League this season.
GRANADA
Under the management of Paco Lopez, Granada begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom three and the relegation places in La Liga, following promotion from the second-tier last season. The Andalusians have badly struggled with just one victory in their opening 14 matches as they fear becoming cut adrift before the winter break.
They come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Alaves last weekend, who gained promotion alongside them last season. That has continued their extremely poor defensive record, too, with 33 goals conceded. They have managed 19 goals, though, which is more than all but one of the teams that are currently outside of the top six.

Madrid are without several key first-teamers for this weekend and it feels like a case of just getting through to the winter break before regrouping and attacking the second-half of the campaign with a bit of freshness. Granada will want to also limp through to the break without being cut adrift. The Andalusians will go the capital and, as they do in every game, get after their opposition but the hosts should put them to the sword on the counter attack enough times to get a comfortable victory.
