MALLORCA
Javier Aguirre just about remains in charge of Real Mallorca but the Balearic Islanders’ poor form is causing the pressure to grow on the Mexican. ‘The Pirates’ begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places with one victory in their opening 15 matches so far this season.
Their reactive and defensive style of football is making it very difficult for them to put teams to bed or get past them and eight draws in those 15 games shows that. They come into this one on the back of a much-needed 2-0 defeat of Egues in the Copa del Rey but have now failed to score in five of their last six La Liga matches.
SEVILLA
Diego Alonso, much like Aguirre, is under serious pressure for his job. The Uruguayan is in charge of a Sevilla side that have major off-field issues but those off-field issues are bleeding onto the pitch as they do battle against relegation once again. The Andalusians also came through with a much-needed cup win in midweek, though, against Atletico Astorga.
Sevilla have played 22 matches across all competitions so far this season but they have managed just four victories with two of those wins coming against lower league opposition in the cup. Alonso remains winless in La Liga as they continue to drop closer and closer down to the bottom three and the danger zone with an ageing squad.

Real Mallorca do not have many injury concerns for this one with their only absentee being Kosovo international, Vedat Muriqi.

Not many seasons would Real Mallorca facing Sevilla be viewed as a genuine relegation six-pointer but that is very much the case for this one at San Moix. Mallorca have found goal scoring difficult regardless of absentees but the continued absence of Muriqi leaves a major hole at the front end of the pitch. They now face a Sevilla side that have good players lacking any sort of idea or identity. Whilst Sevilla may be slight favourites, it is not expected to be a thriller for the neutral.
