Monza have had off-field issues this season but they remain an ambitious side with the intention to finish in the top seven and seek to earn European qualification. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the top-half of the table with four victories, six draws and three defeats in their opening 13 matches.
The home team come into this on the back of back-to-back 1-1 draws either side of the November international break; firstly at home to Torino and then on the island of Sardinia against Cagliari. That means they have enjoyed a four-match unbeaten run of form as they sit two points behind Atalanta in seventh place.
JUVENTUS
Massimiliano Allegri’s second stint in charge of Juventus was expected to end quite badly after a slow and difficult start, both on and off the pitch, but The Old Lady are grinding themselves into a title race in Serie A. A depleted Juve side, in typically tedious fashion, shared a 1-1 draw in the Derby d’Italia with Internazionale, last weekend.
Juventus begin the weekend sitting second in the table and just two points behind the aforementioned Inter. Quite remarkably, though, and, as mentioned, in typical Allegri style, Juventus have scored just 20 goals in that time, conceding eight, which is the second best defensive record behind, of course, Inter.

Monza, as mentioned, are an ambitious side with their overall intent but their style of football is perhaps not as ambitious as many would anticipate for the amount of money invested in the squad. They have scored just 14 goals in their 13 games so far this season with only six teams managing fewer. Given that record, as well as Juventus’ re-discovered ability to simply just about get past their opposition with an extremely impressive defensive record, a low-scoring away win would appear the likeliest outcome for this one.
