FROSINONE
Following promotion last season, Frosinone entered the 2023/24 Serie A campaign expecting to play a genuinely fun and fairly vibrant style of football with an emphasis on being proactive and attacking in the final third under the management of former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco. The Romans haven’t quite lived up to that but have begun more than respectably.
The home team sit fairly comfortably in mid-table after 18 matches of the season but there will be growing concerns about their recent form as they do slide down the league. Their 3-1 defeat to capital city rivals Lazio, for example, was their third successive loss and they are now winless in their last five matches in Serie A.
MONZA
Monza remain an incredibly ambitious side off the pitch but their on the pitch style of football has left a fair bit to be desired. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom-half of the table but reasonably in mid-table – it is their lack of goal scoring and general consistency that has been an irritation and a frustration so far this season, though.
For example, they have scored just 16 goals in their 18 matches so far with only four teams managing fewer than that – Torino, Verona and Salernitana all have 15 and Empoli have scored ten. Their respectable goalless draw with defending champions Napoli last week means they have managed just one win in their last seven matches.

Frosinone have no fresh injury concerns for this weekend with Jaime Baez remaining a doubt, whilst Anthony Oyono, Riccardo Marchizza and Sergio Kalaj are out injured.

THE PREDICTION
These are two sides with fairly similar ambitions, both on and off the pitch. Monza and Fiorentina are intent on building themselves into Serie A regulars but doing so that is easy on the eye for the spectator or the neutral. Monza haven’t quite managed to reach that goal scoring potential but Frosinone have been an entertaining watch this season so, with their home advantage, producing another entertaining encounter would seem more likely.
