THE LOWDOWN

FIORENTINA

Vincenzo Italiano’s Fiorentina have an abundance of quality as they try and challenge for a top seven finish and potential European qualification. I Viola are not just in the hunt for another top seven finish but they are also aiming for the top four as they begin this weekend sitting just a point behind Bologna in fourth.

They have collected ten points from their last four matches and come into this one on the back of a 1-0 win away to Monza in their most recent outing, last weekend, with a seventh minute winning goal from Lucas Beltran. They have not been quite as entertaining to watch last season but have remained progressive and front foot in their style of football.

TORINO

Ivan Juric and his Torino side have often flattered to deceive. Playing a generally easy on the eye style of football with an emphasis on being attacking and progressive, the Turin-based club have struggled for goals over the last season and a half. They have notched just 15 times in 17 matches so far this season.

Only two clubs, Empoli and Salernitana, have scored fewer than Torino so far this season but they remain firmly in the middle-of-the-table. They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Udinese last weekend, extending their current unbeaten run of form to four matches in Italy’s top-flight.

THE TEAM NEWS

FIORENTINA

Vincenzo Italiano has a few injury concerns this weekend with the likes of long-term absentees Dodo and Gaetano Castrovilli joined by Nicolas Gonzalez on the sidelines.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Terracciano; Kayode, Milenkovic, Ranieri, Biraghi; Arthur, Duncan; Ikone, Barak, Kouame; Beltran

UNAVAILABLE: Gonzalez (Injured), Martinelli (Injured), Dodo (Injured), Castrovilli (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

TORINO

Torino are without Perr Schuurs for this weekend due to injury, whilst Karol Linetty remains a doubt for the trip to Florence.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Milinkovic-Savic; Tameze, Buongiorno, Rodriguez; Soppy, Ricci, Ilic, Lazaro; Vlasic, Sanabria; Zapata

UNAVAILABLE: Schuurs (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Linetty (Injured), N’Guessan (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Fiorentina, as mentioned, play a generally attacking style of football but have struggled to be as electric going forward as they were at times last season. They are without key forward Nicolas Gonzalez for this weekend, too. They now take on a Torino side that have struggled for goals throughout Ivan Juric’s tenure so the likelihood is for that to continue with a low-scoring home win appearing the most likely outcome on Friday.

TIP: FIORENTINA TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
