THE LOWDOWN
REIMS
Under the management of Will Still, Stade de Reims remain inside the top five of the table as they challenge for European qualification, despite back-to-back defeats either side of the November international break. They were hammered 3-0 by Paris Saint-Germain a few weeks ago before being defeated by Rennes by three goals to one in Julian Stephan’s first game in charge.
Reims, who are intent on playing a proactive and progressive style of football, have remained entertaining to watch regardless of the effectiveness of their results so far this season. In their opening 13 matches of the campaign, there has been a combined total of 36 goals in their matches with 18 scored and 18 conceded.
STRASBOURG
Former Crystal Palace and Nice boss, Patrick Vieira, is coming under pressure in the Alsace region with Strasbourg sitting firmly in the bottom-half after an underwhelming start to the campaign. They come into this one on the back of a third successive draw, sharing the spoils with Olympique de Marseille, last weekend.
Vieira has continued to insist upon a need for patience but the lack of fluency and attacking flow is something that is really hurting the Frenchman. Strasbourg have managed to score just ten goals in their opening 13 matches of the season and only the bottom two sides, Clermont and Lyon, have scored fewer than that.

THE PREDICTION
Back-to-back defeats, albeit with mitigating factors and extenuating circumstances, means that Reims come into this one in the need of three points. Will Still is a manager who has built a cohesive unit and has implemented a good style of football so the hosts will be confident of getting back on track against a Strasbourg side in which their coach, Patrick Vieira, will really be feeling the heat and a little nervy about making it to the Ligue 1 winter break. With that, as well as their home advantage, Reims are the favourites for this one.
