Roy Hodgson is under serious pressure at Selhurst Park, especially after his fairly abrupt post-match comments in midweek. The Eagles boss suggested Palace fans had been ‘spoilt’ in recent times as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to an in-form AFC Bournemouth. The spoilt Crystal Palace supporters have seen their side win four home games in 14 months.
They begin this weekend sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table due to the poor quality down right at the bottom but, in most other seasons, Palace would find themselves in a relegation battle. The Croydon-based club have won just one of their last eight matches with that victory coming against struggling Burnley in early November.
LIVERPOOL
Jurgen Klopp will be frustrated his side is playing at 12:30 once again but The Reds have a fair bit of depth all over the squad so it should not be a major concern as they have not had the most strenuous opposition in recent weeks with games against LASK in the UEFA Europa League and then Fulham and Sheffield United.
They have been exceptional and much-improved since around April and they come into this weekend having suffered just one Premier League defeat so far this season – that coming in exceptionally controversial circumstances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, losing 2-1 to Ange Postecoglu’s side.

CRYSTAL PALACE
With the pressure growing on Roy Hodgson, things have got a little worse for the Englishman off the field, too, as Tyrick Mitchell has picked up a hip injury, ruling him out of this weekend.
Their key attacker, Michael Olise, is also a doubt for this weekend and will face a late fitness test ahead of the visit of Liverpool at Saturday lunchtime. Eberechi Eze is also still missing so there could well be a lack of spark in attack for Crystal Palace.

There is, though, an expectation that Alisson will return to the starting line-up after making a return to full first-team training in recent days. They remain without the likes of Diogo Jota and Joel Matip, though with Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago and Andrew Robertson also on the sidelines.

THE PREDICTION
Crystal Palace are not playing well and they are not even underperforming with a relatively entertaining or progressive style of football. The hosts are setup to survive in the Premier League and it has become quite stale and tedious. They now face a Liverpool side that are not quite rampant but they are very, very strong this season with their pre-season expectations now being raised to a title challenge. An away win is to be expected and an away win with a clean sheet also seems quite likely.
