THE PREDICTION

Sporting KC are aiming to reach the MLS Cup final for the fourth time in their history but they still have two hurdles to overcome and Thursday evening’s Western Conference semi-final sees them face a side who have timed their run of form to perfection. Minnesota United’s 3-0 win over Colorado Rapids last time out extended their unbeaten run to nine games – the longest in their history – and they will certainly not fear the side who finished top of the regular season standings. The last five meetings between the two teams have been won by a one-goal margin and this could be another tight affair given the circumstances. There is a strong possibility of extra-time and penalties so backing the draw after 90 minutes could be worthwhile.
