Key stats

  • This is the first Women’s EURO final tournament match between these teams. They have met twice in qualifying – both in the 2005 edition – when a 1-1 draw in Espoo (FIN) was followed by a 2-0 win for Finland in Visp (SUI).
  • Switzerland are unbeaten in their last four international matches against Finland (W2 D2).
  • Finland are aiming to reach the knockout rounds for the first time since 2009.
  • Finland have won only one of their last ten Women’s EURO final tournament matches (D2 L7).
  • Only two of Finland’s previous 16 Women’s EURO final tournament matches finished without a goal being scored.
  • Linda Sällström could become the first player to make ten Women’s EURO final tournament appearances for Finland.
  • Switzerland are aiming to reach the knockout rounds for the first time.
  • Switzerland’s 2-0 win on Matchday 2 against Iceland was their second in eight Women’s EURO final tournament matches (D2 L4). Both coming against Iceland, with the previous victory being a 2-1 win on Matchday 2 at the 2017 finals.
  • Switzerland have never won successive Women’s EURO matches.
  • Switzerland have scored in their last seven Women’s EURO matches.
  • Against Iceland, Noelle Maritz, Ana-Maria Crnogorčević and Lia Wälti were the first players to make eight Women’s EURO appearances for Switzerland.
  • The assists for the two Switzerland goals against Iceland were both provided by teenagers; Sydney Schertenleib (18y 157d) and Leila Wandeler (19y 86d).
  • With her strike on Matchday 2, Géraldine Reuteler became the second Swiss player to score more than one Women’s EURO final tournament goal after Ramona Bachmann (two).
  • Finland’s Anna Tamminen, and Switzerland’s Smilla Vallotto have been team-mates at Swedish club Hammarby since 2023, when they won the Damallsvenskan title. Hammarby was the club where Switzerland head coach Pia Sundhage ended her playing career and started coaching – long before those players were at the club.
  • Finland’s Tinja-Riika Korpela plays in Switzerland with Servette, where Sandrine Mauron is a team-mate. Korpela also played briefly in 2021 with Switzerland’s Alisha Lehmann at Everton.
  • Linda Sällström scored a hat-trick for Finland against Switzerland in a 3-1 win at the 2012 Cyprus Women’s Cup, Ana-Maria Crnogorčević scoring Switzerland’s goal.
  • Crnogorčević was on target against Finland again in the same competition in 2018 as Switzerland prevailed 4-0, Lehmann also contributing to the win with her first international goal.

Finland vs Switzerland prediction

Finland began their 2025 UEFA Women’s Championship group stage campaign with a slender 1-0 defeat of Iceland at the Stockhorn Arena, taking advantage of Iceland going down to ten players before a winning goal scored by Katarina Kosola. That was followed up by a 2-1 loss to Norway.

A 2-1 defeat to the Norwegians is how Switzerland began their tournament, but they have managed to pull themselves back into contention and actually above the Finnish with a 2-0 victory over Iceland thanks to goals scored by Geraldine Reuteler and Alayah Pilgrim.

Both of these sides have struggled for attacking fluency but the fact it is more or less a knockout could turn it into a basketball match so both teams scoring would seem a good bet.

Finland vs Switzerland tip: Both teams to score
