England vs South Africa prediction
South Africa have made the whole cricketing world sit up and take notice following consecutive ODI series victories away to Australia and now England. Whilst game one was a blow out against Harry Brook’s side, the Proteas had to fight hard for victory in the second game, but got the job done at Lord’s, winning by just five runs.
Whilst South Africa also sealed their three-match series vs Australia in the first two games, their performance levels dropped considerably in the third ODI and that was reflected in the result, a 276-run defeat. It would be no surprise if we saw something similar, albeit on a smaller scale in England when considering that this third encounter is far more important for England to win. The hosts are in rotten form across all white ball cricket and captain Brook will be desperate for a morale boosting victory.
To their credit, England showed noticeable improvement from game one to game two, actually batting fairly well unlike the pitiful showing we saw at Headingley. Expect them to follow that up again in Southampton and backing them to win warrants serious consideration.
