Empoli Preview: The collapse of Empoli

Empoli started the season reasonably well under the management of former Benevento and Lecce coach Roberto D’Aversa but the Florence-based outfit have completely collapsed as they begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the danger zone.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina in the Florence derby at the Artemio Franchi last weekend. That means they are now winless in 22 matches inside 90 minutes across all competitions.

Lazio Preview: Lazio’s push for Europe

Coached by former Hellas Verona boss Marco Baroni, Lazio begin the 35th match day of the 2024/25 Serie A season sitting a few places but just a couple of points outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League qualifying spots.

The visitors most recently shared a 2-2 draw with Parma in a game in which they were 2-0 down with just over ten minutes of the game to go at the Stadio Olimpico before former Chelsea and Barcelona winger Pedro notched a late brace for Lazio.

It has been a miserable six or seven months for Empoli after beginning the season as though they could even challenge towards the top-half of the Serie A table.
