Elche's 3-1 defeat to Celta last Sunday ended their three-game winning run that had seen them leap out of the relegation zone, and such is the tightly-congested nature of the bottom half of the La Liga table, they are right back in the dogfight once again.
They begin the weekend just two points above the drop zone, and indeed two points above this weekend's opponents Alaves, so this could be a potentially pivotal fixture in the destiny of both teams.
Alaves played their part in a highly entertaining 2-4 defeat to Athletic Club last time out, but the reality is that they sit in the bottom three right now and simply must pick up points against their relegation rival this weekend.
Matches involving the visitors certainly haven't been short of goals lately, with an average of 4.5 being scored across their last eight matches. There is no reason it to be any different here between two teams with plenty to play for, so we're leaning towards goals in this one.
