The Democratic Republic of Congo have an intercontinental playoff for the 2026 FIFA World Cup against either New Caledonia or Jamaica after coming through an extremely tough African qualifying campaign.

Having more or less matched Senegal in the groups, DR Congo then produced impressive playoff victories against Cameroon and then Nigeria to set up their eventual clash with either New Caledonia or the Jamaicans.

Bermuda performed well and above expectation in CONCACAF qualifying for the tournament but they remain some way off the standard of an even rotated DR Congo side.
