The Australian has only won one match in eight since the US Open in August and currently looks a far cry from the player who reached world number eight just over three years ago.
The 28-year-old now faces Moyuka Uchijima for the first time with the Japanese world number 87 in similarly patchy form with just two wins from her last ten.
It’d be easy to think of Kasatkina at her best here, throwing a lovely mix of height and depth to tee up a thunderbolt forehand, but she’s struggled to find the island of late and Moyuka will grit in a fight.
