Cruzeiro finished second in Group D behind Chilean club Universidad Catolica with a record of W3 D2 L1, and their games were generally low-scoring affairs with just eight goals scored and three conceded across their six fixtures.
They next face fellow Brazilian side Flamengo, who they have already faced once this season in domestic action, losing 2-0 back in March.
For their part, Flamengo were imperious in Group A as they picked up 16 points from a possible 18, conceding just twice along the way.
The defending champions are certainly one of the favourites to go all the way once again, but they will prioritise defensive stability in this away first leg. Backing against both team scoring looks a good play.
