Cologne come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with St Pauli last week, extending their unbeaten run of form to five matches with a slight improvement in their performance level since the departure of Jakub Kwasniok and the appointment of Rene Wagner during the March international break.
Bayer Leverkusen succumbed to a 2-0 loss to treble chasing Bayern Munich in midweek in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal. Leverkusen, with former Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand at the helm, begin the match day sitting just four points outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots in the Bundesliga.
Leverkusen have been inconsistent throughout the campaign but their ceiling is much higher than Cologne and it wouldn’t be a shock to see the hosts’ unbeaten run of form end.
